S2SiFrance: French Pyrenees
DAY 1: Transition day to France
Arrive at Carcasonne or Toulouse airport where you will be met by your S2SI guide and transported to your luxury accommodation high on the side of a mountain in the foothills of the French Pyrenees. Enjoy some fabulous cuisine washed down with a drop or two of local French wine.
DAY 2: Preparation, Rock climbing and Abseiling
Preparation morning! You will be issued with all the kit and meet your mountain guide who will brief you on the next 3 days of activities in the mountains. This is your opportunity to ask questions so you are fully prepared for what lies ahead. Then you can relax by the pool before the journey begins! Today you will then be driven to a mountain crag with the fantastic ruin of the Chateaus of the Cathars in view. You will experience rock climbing and abseiling surrounded by rocky peaks and feel as if you are on top of the world. A picnic, French-style, and a short walk into the local village will take you to the Gite d'etape where you can sip cool beer on the terrace and soak up the views.
DAY 3: Rock Climbing, Abseiling and Mountaineering
You will be transported up into the heart of the Pyrenees to a mountain crag where you will experience rock climbing and abseiling surrounded by rocky peaks. After a picnic (French-style) you will be driven to the end of the road to pick up your rucksacks and hike across the mountains to a manned Refuge high in the Pyrenees. You will experience French mountain food, prepared by the guardian of the Refuge.
DAY 4: Mountaineering and Thermal Baths
A walk down through steep-sided valleys to a road, then head onto Ax Les Thermes mountain resort. Spend the afternoon soaking in the natural waters before a short drive to another Refuge in an amazing location with great views across rocky peaks to Andorra.
DAY 5: Mountain Biking
A full day of mountain biking across the Plateau de Sault on forest tracks and single track roads ending up at a Gite d'etape for a meal of local produce. There is an option here for an evening horse ride.
DAY 6: White water Rafting and Road Cycling
An early morning transfer into the steep sided Gorges de Saint Georges for the white water raft trip down the river Aude to Quillan. An espresso in one of the pretty cafes of Quillan and a transfer on to road bikes, you will cycle into wine country and stay near a vineyard and wine taste some of this region's finest. A five course meal will soak up the plonk and prepare you for the next day! Overnight in a beautiful Gite.
DAY 7: Road Cycling and Sea Kayaking
Half a day in the saddle will transport you to the Mediterranean where your sea kayaks will be lined up on the beach. You will then paddle to a secluded bay where your Yacht will be moored with the champagne cooling.
DAY 8: Sailing and Diving
After a good night's sleep you will set sail for the dive/snorkeling site on the Cote de Vermeille, a national nature reserve. A final sail into the beautiful French port of Coullioure for your final night in 5 star luxury. You can relax in the Infinity pool overlooking the Mediterranean and wine and dine knowing you deserve it!
DAY 9: Adulation and Transit back home
Breakfast continental-style on the terrace overlooking the sea before a transfer to the airport for your flight back home.

Flights
It is best to fly to Carcasson or Toulouse and you can fly direct from most international airports.
All participants are responsible for booking their own flights / transport to the start point of the expedition. The start of the expedition is Carcasson / Toulouse. We will confirm the exact time nearer the start date. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need assistance.
The start date of your expedition is listed on the web site, or just call us! S2Si staff aim to meet you at the arrival airport in their polo shirts. We will collect you at no additional cost if you arrive up to one day before the start of the expedition, however you will be responsible for any extra accommodation or food you require before the expedition starts.
